Summer Food Service Program - Get Involved!

The Food Bank of Iowa will be continuing our Summer Food Service Program again this summer. This program provides free, nutritious pre-packaged meals to children when free and reduced school meals are not available. Interested in getting involved?! We are looking for general volunteers as well as drivers to deliver meals to our five sites.  If interested, please contact Lauryn at lkappel@foodbankiowa.org or 515-564-0330.

Do you have a love for the outdoors and gardening? The Food Bank of Iowa is looking for ways to expend our Fresh Produce Program and will plant an on-site garden at our main location this spring. View the calendar below for up-coming opportunities!

Food Drive Pick-Up Crew

Dollar Tree is continuing their annual food drive this year from May 13th though June 18th! The Food Bank of Iowa is seeking volunteers to pick up boxes of food from various Dollar Tree location across the Des Moines Metro using our van. This summer the Food Bank of Iowa will participate in the USDA'S Summer Food Service Program.  The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.  Site leads are required to attend a training in May, and commit to at least 7 days of volunteering for this program.
